ANOTHER HOTEL, GOOD RATES...
The official GAMOW hotel, Hilton Garden Inn, is now full. We have arranged, though, for a comparable special rate at the Quality Suites Courthouse Plaza which is located next door to the HGI at 1200 No. Courthouse Road, Arlington, Virginia. You can obtain the special rate by calling 703-524-4000 -- tell them you are with American Atheists/GAMOW. This is part of the Choice Hotels International chain, and is located five miles from Reagan National and only one mile from Washington, DC. Like the Hilton Garden Inn, it is convenient to the DC Metro. Visit the Choice Hotels web site at www.choicehotels.com for more information. NEW VENUE (NEXT DOOR!) FOR SATURDAY NIGHT SOCIAL...
We are still going to celebrate GAMOW on Saturday night! Alas, the bar at the HGI will not be finished in time for that event, so we're heading directly next door to "Ragtime," which has live music, great drinks and a great menu! Meet us there 7 PM on Saturday night, November 2 (after the March). Ragtime is at 1345 N. Courthouse Road in Arlington adjacent to the Hilton garden Inn and the Quality Hotel Courthouse Plaza. See you there!
GAMOW MARCH DETAILS ...
The Godless Americans March on Washington (November 2, 2002) will begin from the "staging area" located on the Mall directly east of 14th St.., SW. It is a wide, gravel walkway bounded on the north side by grass and Madison Drive. Participants should assemble beginning at 10:30 AM - 10:45 AM. Remember, this is directly EAST of 14th street.

-- Signs will be available, or you can bring your own. Remember, we want this demonstration to convey a positive, upbeat and issue-oriented image. Expletives, "shock jock" messages or similar content undermine this efforts. Check your signs for grammar and legibility, please. We urge you to avoid using signs mounted on wooden poles or anything else which might cause injury or related problems.
-- Marshals and other GAMOW staff will be conspicuously identified. Please follow their instructions. Avoid shouting matches and confrontations with religionists -- remember, "don't feed the fundies." Comply with all police instructions.
-- We will be crossing walkways and streets, so obey traffic signals. Do not block traffic or endanger yourself or others.
-- Please do not distribute handouts, advertising or other material since this causes litter.
-- We expect considerable coverage from the local and national news media, and ask that you act in a responsible, appropriate manner.
-- The March will commence at 11 AM promptly, and proceed east down the Mall along the gravel walkway. This is a wide path, but be considerate of others who might be on it. Parts of the Mall may be undergoing maintenance, so please obey all warning signs.
-- The March should take approximately 20 -30 minutes, and will end at the Rally area in front of the GAMOW stage. This area is located on the Mall west of 3rd. street.
TIPS FOR THE RALLY ...
An extensive program of speeches, entertainment and other events is planned for GAMOW on the stage beginning at 11:30 AM. Those who do not wish to march down the Mall may gather at the assembly area located in front of the state.
GAMOW staff and Marshals will be available to deal with "special needs." Portable toilets will be set up, including units with handicapped access.
Consider bringing a blanket and/or lawn chair for the Rally event, along with a container of nonalcoholic beverage. There are food vendors along the Mall driveways near some of the museums and in the immediate vicinity. Dress appropriately, especially if the weather is cool. A hat, gloves and pair of suitable hiking boots can help keep you comfortable.
There will be an information booth near the stage, conspicuously marked, for lost-and-found items and to handle general questions you might have.
Use good judgment pertaining to solicitations for money, offers of "free drinks," and other activities.
